The APPS Board consists of five to 15 Directors. Directors typically serve two year terms, while elected positions (e.g., President, Secretary, Treasurer) serve one year terms. Additional Directors may be appointed during the year. The Board holds an Annual General Meeting in June, with monthly Board meetings held throughout the year.

The Board also has several committees—financial, planning, communications, etc.—that help carry out its work.Committee members are where volunteers are most needed, as committees implement awareness activities and other key tasks. You don’t have to be a Board member to be on a committee.

As an APPS member, you are eligible to become a Board Director, be elected to a position on the Board, or become a member of an APPS committee. When you register as an APPS member, let us know if you are interested in joining the Board or a committee. E-mail us at info@albertapituitary.org.

Membership is Free

The larger our membership, the greater the opportunity we have to secure funding through government, corporate, and philanthropic partners. By joining, you are showing your support for patients, whether it is yourself or someone you know.

APPS welcomes donations that will help us offset ongoing administration costs and the cost of providing programs and services.

We are a volunteer run society. The more people that get involved, the faster we can reach our goal to support pituitary patients throughout the province. Being a volunteer is one way you can become connected to a network of patients to help bring about changes that may benefit you. However, you don’t have to be a patient to volunteer—we strongly encourage non-patient participation, too!  Membership is open to patients, relatives, friends, caregivers, health-care professionals and service providers, and anyone interested helping us support pituitary patients and their families.

During the membership registration process, or at any time, let us know your interest in volunteering and we will help find a role for you. Volunteer positions or activities may also be advertised on the website from time to time. Your commitment, large or small, will make a difference in what we can accomplish. E-mail us at info@albertapituitary.org.
